Watch the premiere of the children’s opera ‘The Ant and the Grasshopper’, performed by the ‘Visoko C’ Association of Artists, in the Egység Cultural Station on 17 October at 11 a.m.

Aesop’s fable ‘The Ant and the Grasshopper’ found its place in children’s literature as one of the most beloved stories. We are presented with a simple lesson of this story, and that is: ‘Who works, he earns’ or ‘Who works is not afraid of hunger’. Everyone knows the grasshopper that constantly plays, sings and doesn’t care about winter, and the hard-working ant that is ready to welcome winter by gathering food and firewood. As we can see, the grasshopper is a character who lost that battle in the beginning. Why? Isn’t it nice when someone plays and sings? Doesn’t music and art itself make man and society better? Has anyone ever sided with the grasshopper?

The ‘Visoko C’ Association of Artists presents this story a bit differently. These and many other questions will be addressed to the children during the performance. The project is designed for children to participate interactively all the time, so that in one part of the play they are sided with the grasshopper, and in the other part, with the ant.

This opera was created in January 2021, as the author’s work of Marija and Branislav Cvijić. The show lasts 30 minutes and is adapted for ages 2 to 12. Tickets cost RSD 400 with the necessary reservation on the phone number 0656775353.
